Is something that you may say when you finally get to live out your dreams of a 24v lightgun in the comfort of your own home. Retro Shooter for a limited is offering a submachine gun model called the MX24 Long Gun. It is the standard Retro Shooter 4ir gun in a new case with an upgraded 24v powerpack and solenoid so it gives you the real kick you get from shooters in the arcade. This new model also features an extra button, a thicker optional arcade cable for use with cabinets and that’s it.
One thing that isn’t included which seems crazy is sensors, as some people may wish to buy one that doesn’t have an existing model so they will have to fork out extra. Having a bundle with sensors would be the way to go here especially as they aren’t all that expensive to manufacture so throwing a set in for a tiny amount more wouldn’t kill them.

The submachine gun model whilst offering something different doesn’t really do it for me though, I mean sure it would be cool to use in some games and the upgraded recoil would be fantastic. However, I would have been happier with a 24v version of the original guns. When you think of light gun games not many of them have you using anything other than a pistol to play them. Point Blank, Time Crisis, Virtua Cop and many other great games all use a pistol. I can’t see myself using the submachine gun to play one of those games, and many others either if I am honest.
The price is also reaching the same point as a Gun4ir which also comes with sensors, so if you had to choose the Gun4ir with original Time Crisis or Point Blank shells or the MX24 which would you pick? For me It would have to be the tighter Gun4ir, that isn’t to say that the Retro Shooter guns aren’t well made or unresponsive, but when it comes down to being the same price for essentially the same thing you tend to go with the slightly better version. This is all down to personal preference though, and I don’t want to sway your judgement in any way as the MX24 does look like a great lightgun, just not one that I am interested in picking up this time.
